The Tigers get some Heavy Support

Now I love this weapon when I first saw it on Mutton Chop's website and actually got it straight away. Now that was over a year ago and with me getting some regulars I thought it was time to paint it up and add it yo my force. Unlike my regulars who are wearing battledress these chaps are actually in service dress but thats fine as the British Army was changing over at the time from SDs to BDs and I rather like SDs anyway. So here is the finished 20mm Oerlikon Cannon with crew.

Cor Blimey, Scarper its the Fuzz

Here is the next unit on the Humberstone Militia Series and these are the local bobbies. I am not totally sure that they called them the "Fuzz" in the 1930s though, but I have painted these lovely Paul Hick's sculpts having Musketeer Miniatures, they are actually the Royal Irish Constabulary in there Irish War of Independence range and one of the chaps is from the IRA command set in the Free State Uniform, painted too as a copper, he is the one with the shotgun. Beautiful figures and I tried my hardest to get the colour of the uniform correct. These were actually quite nice to paint, a nice easy uniform with little in the way of detail, which made a very nice change. Included in the unit are two, rather well known detectives from Mutton Chop Miniatures, which I have painted in a sort of tweed suits and pinstripes. I think the whole unit looks rather nice and I most get some more bobbies soon.

The Leicestershire and Rutland Post Office Rifles

Here are the Leicestershire and Rutland Post Office Rifles. Formed at the outbreak of the Civil War to protect the post they chaps have recently been uniformed at the Duke of Rutland's expense in new shiny uniforms. The uniforms are of the Duke's own design and have that toy soldier quality to the look, maybe the Duke was looking at his tin soldiers at the time, though he thinks its a Prussian look. The main blue uniform is the standard Post office uniform but the Shakos and wigs have that Prussian feel that the Duke was trying to create. The rest of the equipment again is some what borrowed from the Prussian uniform with the Duke trying to give a more military feel to the unit. I still have the Standard to complete.

Post Office Rifles

Here is the latest unit that I have nearly finished for my VBCW game and these chaps are the Post Office Rifles. The actual miniatures are from Paul Hick's very own company called Mutton Chop Miniatures, and are called Major Pippin's Ceremonial Academy Guards and have nothing to do with Trumpton.  Very nice sculpts, as you expect for Paul Hick and are full of character. Now I already have the Royal Mail Rocket Team, again sculpted by Paul Hick, from Musketeer Miniatures Interwar/VBCW range and I needed some infantry to go with these and the Major Pippin chaps fit the bill. These chaps are still waiting there bases to be done but I am very happy with them especially as I have used new brushes on these from Rosemary and Co Artist Brushes and i have to say I am jolly impressed with them and if you dont already use them I would say have a pop at their website and check them out.

The Duke of Rutland's Own

I have managed to finish two, yes two units for the game at Partizan this Sunday 27th May. The first unit is actually the Duke of Rutland's' Own BUF Company in there new BUF uniforms bases on the Italian Fascists rather than the Nazis of German.

The actual uniform of with the blue facings identifying them as a part of the Severn and Midlands Division and the Company flag bears the arms of the Duke himself.

I am rather happy with the uniforms and the overall effect and feel of the unit. The miniatures are from Musketeers' Inter-War Range, sculpted by Paul Hicks and are rather nice I hope you agree.

If that wasn't enough the next unit is the BUF Militia from Leicestershire which have fled to join the Duke and his forces in a hope of fighting the socialists of Leicester and strangely they now have there chance.
These chaps being militia of sorts have now uniform what so ever and one might say that they have no direction what so ever save causing mischief and mayhem.

These fellows are from Paul Hicks' own company Mutton Chop Miniatures being his Weasels and it somehow fits them. I will be replacing the banner with something more well weaselly once Partizan is out of the way. I again are rather pleased with myself as these have turned out are nicely.

And just to finish off I have and finished and based Syd James and Charles Hawtree again from Mutton Chops and these chaps will be seeing an outing to at Partizan.

Sid James and What a Carry On

I have finished Sid James and Charles Hawtree save for the bases and I am rather pleased with them. I think a lot of the credit has to on to Paul Hicks for the excellent sculpts which only made painting them all the easier. I have paint Sid as from Carry on Jungle which seemed right and Charles I have given his a Tigers scarf, thats Leicester Tigers Rugby Team. I hope to have the bases done shortly. Just the Weasels commend to go now.

Here are a couple of works in progress that I am doing for Partizan. Firstly is the Austin K2 by Warlord Games. Yes the same K2 that I had a problem with the mould and they replaced it and gave me some extras too. I cannot fault their service as they came up trumps. This is for a special VIP to travel in. It is very close to being finished just got a few things to do and them bingo its done.

Next in the WIP are a few things from Mutton Chop that being Sidney "Dirty Laugh" Cohen and Sidekick Charles Hartree and also The Weasley Wretches Command. I have to say that these are a dream to paint as all of Paul Hicks'figures are, as they are so full of character. Sid and Charles just look like a couple of "Carry on" fellows and I love the Weasley Wretches. I hope to have these finished shortly.

The Bonaparte of Crime

Yes I have finished the next of Mr Hicks fine sculpts this one being the companion of the Henchman, The Bonaparte of Crime. Yes he is the Crime Lord who is the sworn enemy of a couple of London detectives and I think he is the very model of Professor Moriarty and is a dream to paint. Again sculpted by Paul Hicks for his Mutton Chop range. I think he is well worth the money. Now I just have to do the bases.

Introducing Colonel Sebastian Moran, 'The deadliest shot in India'

Yes I have finished Colonel Sebastian Moran, 'The deadliest shot in India' and just have the base to do. I am rather happy with the result, though my camera skill have left me at the moment. I have not painted him in any regimental uniforms but rather in a "sort of" hussar/yeomanry uniform. Though he is a sniper of sorts, there is no camouflage for him, rather believing "What's the use of camouflage for, Old Boy, when you can simple shoot him before he is in range?". You cant angry with that logic? The figure is meant for my VBCW force, Duke of Rutland's Own BUF and therefore baddies, lol, but I think he has more than the Victorian about him and thus cant be used for that time period too.

Not All of us Got to Salute :(

Yes I have not made to journey to Salute this year, I know what a light weight, but I am sure those that have are having a great time and enjoying themselves. So to compensate for not being there I am paint the new Henchman from Mutton Chops and game developing. The first I can show you and I have sort of based him, a little bit on Flashman and here are some WIP photos. I hope to have him finished shortly, bar the base that is.

The second one, the games developing i can talk about which is a pity as I think some of you would be very interested in it. So it is back to the paint brushes for me and ideas for the game. For those at Salute you lucky buggers.

Mountain Troopers

I have started the mountain trooper for the Albertine book and I think it is off to a cracking start. I am happy with the civilian clothing that he is wearing and the nice tones. I am looking forward to finishing him tomorrow night and then it is three to go :-). Also it brings me closer to my goal and the start of a new of a project. Here is the latest stage the chap is at.

Also i have managed to paint the flesh or the faces of the Napoleon of Crime and his Henchman. There are lovely models to paint and cant wait to have them finished.

Strange Things Happen

Today something quite bizarre happen to me or rather this blog today. At lunch while at work I happily commented on some blogs and this one was working in its merry well that blogger does but when I got home I turned on computer, sat in front of it and went to my blog to check for any comments and I got a message stating that my blog had been removed. So I did the normal thing and closed down and started again and yet again my blog had been removed. Now at this point I started to wonder why me, what the fuck, oh no, who do I contact, panic, etc, etc so I thought that I would actually log into my account and guess what, yes your account has been closed due to Suspicious Behaviour. My account and blog where acting suspiciously? Anyway I got it sorted and it is back, phew!!!!

I have started my next painting project, these being THE BONAPARTE OF CRIME AND HENCHMAN from Mutton Chop. As the site says The Bonaparte of Crime the sworn adversary of Super Sleuth Sheer Luck Basil. This Crime lord sports an extra large Cranium used to hatch devious plots. The pack also contains his trusted Henchman a disgraced Colonal of the Indian Army. He is armed with his customised Mauser rifle. If anyone can tell me who the Henchman is I would be grateful. Here they are.

Start of Something New to Paint

I have started to paint my BUF troops getting ready for Partizan in May. Well thats the excuse to get them off my painting desk, especially as I have just order this fine fellow from Mutton Chops and what a carry on that will be, lol.

 Anyway but the BUF troops are for the talented Paul Hicks from Musketeer Miniatures from there VBCW Range. They are very nice sculpts, up to their high standards and I cant wait to have these finished. So far I have managed to paint the flesh.

I have also finished building, snapping together a Stuart Cottage from 4Ground a new company making MDF building and other terrain and these actually come painted so all you need to do is glue a little and you have a finished house for the princely sum of £16.00 which is not bad for a house. Here are so pictures of the house which I think is very good.

Armoured Tily

Yes I have finished the Armoured Tily or the Croydon Armoured Van as Mutton Chop would say. It is a dream to put together only a gun, turret, a body and base and these is very little to no clean up to do. Now I have to confess I hate painting vehicles as I can never get them to the same standard as my troops but that said I am really happy with this one and I cant wait to race it at Partizan in May at the VBCW day at the races game.So here is the Croydon Armoured Van in its full glory.
